Swing Bed residents receive the same quality of care as inpatients. The main differences are that Swing Bed residents no longer have acute-level medical needs, do not require constant nursing supervision, and no longer need to see their doctors on a daily basis.

GLH combines nursing care with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and an activity program customized just for you. We help you improve your mobility, become more independent and get back to your own daily routine as quickly as possible. GLH’s rehabilitation services may be just what you need to restore your abilities and get you home sooner.

Our Swing Bed program offers comfortable private rooms, nourishing and inviting meals, and a full and active schedule.

A Typical Schedule May Look Like:

7:00 am—7:45 am Morning care/Breakfast

8:00 am—10:00 am Physical, speech and occupational therapy

10:00 am—12:00 pm Therapeutic recreation/Lunch/Rest period

12:00 pm—2:00 pm Physical, speech and occupational therapy

2:00 pm—4:00 pm Therapeutic recreation

4:00 pm—5:00 pm Supper

5:00 pm—7:00 pm Free time

7:00 pm Visiting hours over (except for one family/support person that can stay overnight)

7:00 pm—9:00 pm Evening nursing care/Baths/Dress for bed

GLH Swing Bed care requires the hard work of many highly skilled healthcare providers and other team members. Specialists in all areas will guide and teach you and your family. The staff will help you increase independence (doing for self). To obtain optimal results, rehabilitation takes a team effort.

The cost paid for Swing Bed care is set by Medicare, Medicaid or personal/private insurance policies.

Coverage includes room, meals, nursing   care, therapies, social services, medications, dietary counseling, medical supplies and equipment.
