EMR is an acronym for Electronic Medical Record. This refers to a paperless, digital and computerized system of maintaining patient data. It enhances patient care by providing a more efficient way to document patient care and allowing for fast, accurate exchange of patient health information among physicians, hospitals, and other health care providers. The EMR contains complete medical information about a patient, including medications, current and resolved diagnosis/problems, labs, x-rays, and numerous other health related details.
At Greenwood Leflore Hospital, most of our clinics, as well as our hospital, are using an EMR system to document patient care. The EMR allows our clinic and hospital physicians to have immediate access to the patient’s chart whether the patient is in the clinic or the hospital.
