Moderna Vaccine Update – Greenwood Leflore Hospital

Greenwood Leflore Hospital will administer the Moderna vaccine on May 14 to those who have scheduled an appointment. A second dose of the vaccine is required around 28 days after receiving the first vaccine. The FDA has confirmed that this vaccine has been shown to be 94% effective at preventing severe COVID-19 at least 14 days after second dose. It is available to those 18 years of age and older. We are also offering this vaccine to those who were unable to get it at other locations due to their risk of possible anaphylaxis. To date, no patients have been admitted to Greenwood Leflore Hospital for COVID-19 since they have been vaccinated.

GLH has been designated as a COVID-19 Center of Excellence by the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH), which ensures we will have a steady and reliable supply of vaccines. Stay tuned as we will continue to post information regarding additional doses.
